FAT Hair

Fat Hair

This year I have been experimenting a lot with various haircare ranges, searching out the best ones to turn my sad, lifeless hair into Rapunzel-esque locks.

A brand that I’ve become very familiar with is Samy FAT Hair and I have to say, they really do deliver! The revolutionary sulphate free, thickening shampoo and conditioner are the first step towards gaining the Princess hair you’ve always dreamed of.

Samy’s exclusive FH4 Thickening Complex is a blend of natural extracts and proteins which penetrates each hair strand, increasing the strand’s diameter and expanding the hair from the inside out. The result? My hair feels thicker, fuller, stronger and looks much healthier!

Fudge Urban Haircare

Last week I stumbled across Fudge Urban in Superdrug and I have to say… I’m hooked!

Fudge Urban

First I’ll start with the product that converted me from another brand completely… the Texture Spray, which is scented with ‘Crisp Pear and Sweet Vanilla’. My goodness this product is amazing and if you’re a fan of Bumble & Bumble’s Dryspun (as I was) then you will love this! Create big bouncy height at the roots, body at the mid-lengths or add grit and texture to an up-do.  This texture spray will transform your daily hair routine and the scent is gorgeous too.

The second product I bought was the Feel The Heat, heat protection spray. It protects your hair up to 235°, which is perfect when using my super hot straighteners. It also keeps your hair looking healthy and in great shape with soft hold and detangling properties to ease styling. After using this my hair was tamed of any static or flyaways and actually felt quite strong too. This has definitely made it into my top 5 Heat Protection sprays!

Last but by no means least, my absolute new favourite hair styling product… EVER! This super concentrated hold hairspray has 48hr texture & control AND it has the most beautiful fragrance I’ve ever smelt in a haircare product. Fudge Urban market the scent as ‘Iced Coconut Cocktail’ which basically means you… and your hair… smell like Pina Colada for the rest of the day. It’s mega strong hold is ideal when you need your style to stay in place all day and night and as it’s super concentrated a little really does go a long way. For the best styling finish, apply it in layers holding the bottle well away from your hair and mist over, allowing it to dry a little between each application.

Iced Coconut Spray

Fudge Urban really are Haircare Alchemists! Mixing ingredients for fantastic styling effects with beautiful fragrances… I can’t wait to try the rest of the range!

Look of the Irish!

So I decided to have a bit of a play with some of my Elf products to create an unusual St Patrick’s Day inspired look!

20140316-202941.jpg

I started off by sweeping black eyeshadow from my palette all over the lids and in the crease.

Then I got my new green duo stick and used the eyeshadow end from the outside-in on my lids and the used the eyeliner end to line all the way around my eyes.

After a sweep of eye-enhancing mascara on top and bottom lashes, I then added the dramatic lashes to the bottom of my eyes to create an avant garde look, although it also looks a bit creepy doll-esque!

I finished the look with a slick of glittery lip gloss… My very own pot of gold hehe!

For everyone asking… My green polka dot bow hairband is from Peacocks

Elf is for life not just for Christmas!

So the lovely people at Elf Cosmetics set me a challenge to create a Valentine’s Look fit for my singleton status.

I’d already been sent a dress to wear so I gave them a photo and they helped me create an amazing look which carried me through the whole evening.

Image

I started by applying my regular Elf Primer all over although I did top my eyelids up with a bit of my Urban Decay lid primer.

I started by using the HD Mattifying Cream Foundation and then I topped with the Mineral Personal Blend Foundation powder… both of these are now staple items in my daily routine!

Once I had my base sorted I then moved onto my eyes, using 3 shades from the palette I had been sent I swept the gold over my lids and over my browbone, I then used the dark brown shade to identify my crease and add definition to the lid. I finished with the almost white glitter shade just under my eyebrows, in the corner of my eye  and swept ever so lightly in the middle of my eyelid to give a very subtle highlight.

With each of these products I used the lock and seal, this is my new miracle product! It doesn’t matter what texture your eyeshadows are or even if they are not that strong. Use this and the colour will pop and you almost feel it drying onto your skin, meaning it stays in place all night. (I actually accidentally rubbed my eye without thinking and it didn’t budge an inch!)

Next, onto the Mascara! Now the lovely ladies at Elf sent me the Volume Pumping Mascara and the definition you get with it is great, however my lashes are quite thin so I ended up topping this up with the ELF Eye Enhancing Mascara which did the trick beautifully. I didn’t want to layer too much on though as afterwards I carefully applied the eyelashes which have definitely landed in my top 5 False Eyelash sets for ease of application and level of comfort once applied.

As I moved onto the contouring set I was a little nervous as I’ve never really had a go at it but my, oh my… the definition of my cheekbones, the slimming effect on my face and the highlighting of my best features has definitely turned me into a convert!

For the lips, I was well prepared as I’m a bit of a lipstick addict… I carefully lined my lips with the deep crimson pencil and then topped with the lipstick in shade ‘RED CARPET’ and then blended the two together. Normally, I’m a bit advocate of the ‘Eyes OR Lips, but never both’, so I was a bit worried how this would turn out. I needn’t have worried… It was a vampy, sexy look without looking trashy or overdone.

To finish everything off, a hint of the Mist & Set pack that I had been set. Judging by the fact that everything, except my dress, was still intact by the time I got home I’d say that was a result.

Fun Fact: The dress started unravelling on the straps half way through the night…I wasn’t pleased!

I ran an ELF Giveaway over Valentine’s weekend and the lucky winner was chosen on Twitter who has received a goody bag of all the products I used for this look.

The Blog of Christmas Past

So I realise that this is a bit overdue, but it’s time to share my festive habits from 2013.

WHAT I WAS WEARING…

MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in ‘Gilt by Association’

The bold and striking colours swept on beautifully and lasted long into the evening. It gave my eyes a sultry look which wasn’t too heavy for wearing in the day either. Add a flick of black eyeliner and a few coats of deep black mascara and you’re good to go!

My novelty Christmas Jumper always seems to become like a second skin once we hit December 1st and I really do love mine… and I loved mine back when it wasn’t cool to be seen in a novelty jumper! I picked this one up from BHS online, super soft and comfy it also kept me toasty warm when the wear got a bit rubbish. Plus… who doesn’t adore Rudolph?!

WHAT I WAS EATING & DRINKING

Marks & Spencer Festive Treats

These guys always send me lovely things to try!

The Glitter Juice Drink was divine! Filled with lots of fruit to keep you going through the alcohol-fuelled festivities but also perfect as a base for a non-alcoholic cocktail- just add lemonade. Filled with glitter…this drink is also great if the kids want their own mocktails too.

Image

Then there was the cream of the crop…the Salted Caramel gateaux. This cake was a beast!!

Absolutely stunningly presented with white chocolate Christmas trees on top and dusted with cocoa powder, the cake cut smoothly revealing layer upon layer of soft sponge and gooey fudge icing.

Needless to say, this disappeared within minutes of my party guests arriving!

WHERE I SPENT MY DAYS

After falling in love with Coffee#1 just after my birthday, it has now turned into a full blown love-affair. Tempting me in with sultry names and luxurious ingredients, the brand never fails to excite my taste buds and the staff are always amazingly friendly.

Image

My evenings usually took me somewhere in town… Often Cosy Club!

This year however I had the chance to visit Winter Wonderland twice and loved every second. It was great being able to stand in the Alpine Village, sipping an Amaretto hot chocolate whilst listening to the Oompah band and have fake snow blowing over our heads. It reminded me of my time I spent in Finland.

All That Glitters Is Gold!

I normally don’t look at MAC’s seasonal sets, but this one really caught my eye after in store makeup artist Ollie introduced me to the range and  I’ve wanted several of the colours for a long time.

I explained to Ollie that I was going on a first date that evening and wanted something special. My criteria was this: I wanted to look amazing and sparkly, but still keeping it fairly understated and wanted it to feel a bit festive.

Challenge accepted…Ollie sat me down and told me he’d make me look fabulous!

So he got out the new Nocturnals: Pigments and Glitter set in Black & Gold

Image

They are five stackable jars of highly pigmented colour which apply evenly and blend well.

The shades are Naked, Museum Bronze and Copper Sparkle and then the glitter comes in black and gold.

Ollie started by applying a base, then topped it with ‘Naked’ and blended out into the creases and then he swept a few strokes of ‘Museum Bronze’ over my eyelid. He then dabbed the gold glitter on top and applied a few coats of super black mascara to my top and bottom lashes and voila!

Image

I have to say that this set is very good value for money for the amount of product you get and is great for anyone who really loves their highly pigmented colours.

After giving me a quick dab of blusher to make my cheeks look all rosy and glowing I was ready to go…

Amazing as a Christmas gift or as a treat for yourself.

Needless to say, I looked amazing and ended up getting a second date…result!

Molton Brown’s molten heat

I was recently given a bottle of Molton Brown’s black peppercorn body lotion and can I just say…Wow!

Spiced with Madagascan Black Pepper and a fresh hit of coriander, this skin tingling lotion will not disappoint. It re-energises and awakens the skin and leaves it feeling silky smooth.

The overall fragrance once settled was almost musky, with subtle hints of Vanilla.

I just loved the fact that whilst I was circling it into my skin, I could feel the intense heating action & warmth radiating all over. Combined with the mini arm massage I gave myself I felt like I had been truly pampered in a matter of minutes.

This product gets a 10/10 from me!
